Chakka Gram: A Community Initiative to Promote Jackfruit Cultivation

Building a Greener Future with Jackfruit

The "Chakka Gram" (Jackfruit Village) initiative was successfully launched in Bhoomikuth Ward, Karulai Panchayat, Malappuram, with the aim of encouraging sustainable jackfruit cultivation across the region. The program highlights the importance of preserving Kerala's traditional fruit varieties while supporting farmers through the distribution of quality jackfruit saplings.

The inaugural event brought together local representatives, agricultural enthusiasts, farmers, and residents who pledged their support for expanding jackfruit cultivation and promoting environmentally friendly farming practices.

Distribution of Premium Jackfruit Saplings

As part of the initiative, more than 500 premium jackfruit saplings were distributed to local farmers and households. The project encourages every family to plant and nurture at least one jackfruit tree, helping to increase green cover while creating future income opportunities.

The saplings distributed include carefully selected, high-quality varieties known for their excellent taste, productivity, and adaptability to Kerala's climate.
